Loss

the growth
that blossoms from suffering
is finite.

when all
of the blood
has been emptied,
when the limbs
have been exiled,
when the room
has been drained,
there is only
phantom pain.

(taunting and
useless.)

a reminder
of what will never be
returned to us.

quotes

Drowning

“i would swim in you
even if
you became
the deepest ocean.
there is no depth
i wouldn’t let myself
sink into.
our eyes may close.
our breath may pause.
but our hearts will keep
beating.
know this.”

-Jamie Oliveira, Response to “Erosion”
